Camp Purpose:

This is a high school clinic run by high school people to help high school officials. We referee High School Varsity Boys and JV Boys games in a team camp environment using high school 3 man mechanics and some 2 man mechanics by high school rules. Our goal is to help new officials improve to become high school ready; help JV officials improve to move to the Varsity level; and help Varsity officials improve to get more and better games. As a result, you should have three goals when you come to camp: # 1 Improve as an official, # 2 Meet and make new friends, and # 3 Have fun.

Others as needed

The gym, dorm and dining hall are all air conditioned and are very comfortable. Each official should expect to referee a morning game, an afternoon game and a night game. Classroom sessions, taught by the clinic director as well as some of these outstanding counselors, are going on during the day when the official does not have a game. Each Official is also filmed at least one game and evaluated during the camp by all the counselors and the camp director.

Each official should bring sheets, towels, pillow, blanket and other personal items as needed. We do not use cassette recorders at this camp. We feel it restricts the evaluators with the other crew members and prevents hands-on critiques during the games. Counselors will critique on the spot. Officials will know immediately what they need to work on. We believe that you learn by instant feedback; not back at the dorm room 2 hours later. You will get plenty of helpful information and critiques from the counselors at this clinic.
